The Association of Women Accountants, Ghana (AWAG), has held its annual family day out at the Athletic Oval at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The event, which brought together families of members of the association, was fun-filled as they engaged in various sporting and entertainment activities.
They included Ampe, musical chairs, penalty shoot-out, volleyball, lime and spoon, ludo, oware, sack race and scrabble.
There was also a medical screening by the staff of the Airport Clinic.
Occasion
In her opening remarks, the President of AWAG, Akua Bonsu-Owu, said the day out was a special occasion to stay away from “our calculated reports and deadlines and instead celebrate life, wellness and togetherness.
“As women accountants, we know the value of balance. Not just our books but also our lives.
This event is an opportunity to recharge, connect with our family, strengthen our bonds and keep it fit while having fun,” she said.
She encouraged all to participate fully in the games and activities.
Memories
“Let us share with one another, share laughter and create memories that will inspire us long after today,” she said, and added, “I want us to remember that beyond the debit and credit, today we balance with fun,” she said.
Mrs Bonsu-Owu challenged women accountants who were not part of the association to join, and that some of the benefits of being a member included training and other refresher programmes to update and empower members.
“We do programmes to enhance members by training them about new things in accounting.
Maybe somebody has chartered for 20 years, and at that time, things were different.
Now new things are coming up and we need to update you so that you become aware of what is happening now,” she said.
