He also donated 100 school uniforms worth GH¢8,000 to the pupils of Akyem Adiemera Primary School to mark his birthday.

Presenting the sanitary pads to the female pupils of the three beneficiary schools, Obrempong Appiah said the four-in-one sanitary pads could be used for three years before disposing of them.

He said he felt very sad whenever he heard that schoolgirls absented themselves from school during their menstrual periods due to their inability to purchase sanitary pads.

Obrempong Appiah advised the girls to take proper care of the sanitary pads, wash them and reuse them whenever they had their menses.

Premarital sex

Obrempong Appiah cautioned the schoolgirls against premarital sex, which could result in teenage pregnancy, as well as curtail their education.

He urged them to commit themselves to the Almighty God in order to receive his favour at all times. The outgoing General Manager of Catholic Schools in Ghana, Araba Chinebuah, and Nana Adwoa Kwakyewaa, a London-based Ghanaian nurse, took turns to educate the schoolgirls on menstrual hygiene.

Mrs Chinebuah advised them to study their menstrual cycles to help them know when they would menstruate in order to take their sanitary pads along when going to school. The beneficiary schoolchildren and their teachers thanked Obrempong Appiah for the gesture.
