Church leaders must raise people to transform society — Apostle Nyamekye
The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has charged church leaders to reset their priorities by raising people who will transform society.
He stated that leaders should raise people to shape and transform culture "so that there would be no difference between our Sundays and Mondays".
Apostle Nyamekye said this on Tuesday at the opening of the 2025 All Ministers' Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
The three-day event, organised by the CoP, in collaboration with the Lausanne Movement Ghana, is on the theme: "Building the Church for Impact".
Shape
Apostle Nyamekye said there should be no dichotomy between what was called sacred and secular.
He said there was the need for a people who would make their faith count in the public sphere and change the atmosphere of communities, towns, cities, regions and nations to the glory of God.
He said the Church that Jesus was building had no walls.
"Church service is like a half time in a football match — the real match is played on the field
"So, when we are coming to Church, we are just coming to mert Jesus our coach, we are coming to listen to His word, to transform our lives and to transform the world.
"When we close from church, we are coming to live the Christian life.
Walls
The Church has no walls; whether it is Monday or Tuesday we are still in Church; whether you are at the work place or the market place you are still in Church - let's raise such people to transform our land," he said.
Apostle Nyamekye said Church leaders must endeavour to teach members to see their involvement in institutions, industries and the work place as Kingdom assignment and to be channels through whom the grace of God would flow to bless humanity.
Again, he said the Church was a movement and that its onslaught could not be stopped by any force.
"Church leaders have to reset priorities.
We are doing so many things that are not Church at all - if we can awaken and unleash the tremendous power ...in our churches - the talents, the giftings, the resources, the creativity, the energy through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christianity would grow with unprecedented growth"
Generation
He said it was time the Church in the current generation realised that it had been given an assignment for which it must unleash itself onto the world to make God famous again in the nation and the kingdoms of the world.
Apostle Nyamekye said the Church that Jesus envisioned to build was not a weak Church, and that it was going to be the most powerful institution on earth, to the extent that the gates of hell would not be able to withstand its onslaught.
"The Church should be strong to the extent that the gates of Hades would not be able to withstand it," he said, and that the Church should be strong and powerful enough to answer questions to solve problems that included both physical and spiritual needs, difficult situations and change lives
Apostle Nyamekye charged the leaders not to give room to people who spite their God, and that the fragrance of Christ should spread everywhere because "we are the aroma of Christ"
"We would change nothing when Christianity is just shallow," he said, and that leaders needed a vision strategy which would have positive impact on the Church and society at large.
Leaders, he said, must build the church for Impact.
