Investigations
Later that day, the Ghana Police Service launched investigations into the tragic incident, announcing the arrest of the suspect.
A police statement issued last Thursday said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of the day.
The statement said a police examination of the body uncovered marks of violence.
It added that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, personally engaged the family of the deceased, offering condolences and assuring them that justice would be served.
The police said the IGP had also met with KNUST authorities to discuss how the police and the university could collaborate to enhance security on campus and protect students and staff.
The police further assured the public of a thorough investigation into the case and urged anyone with relevant information to assist law enforcement officers.
