Ghana news C’wealth Sec. Gen, Olu of Warri arrive to honour Asantehene
The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and the Olu of Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has arrived in Ghana to join in celebrating Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, as a Pillar of Peace in Kumasi today.
Ms. Botchwey, the first woman from Africa to hold this office, will be the Special Guest of Honour for today’s event.
The 56-member Commonwealth, which she leads, is founded on shared values of dialogue, rule of law, and conflict prevention, all of which mirror Otumfuo’s renowned role as a traditional peacemaker.
Olu of Warri
The Warri monarch touched down at the Accra International Airport aboard a private jet yesterday accompanied by his wife, Her Royal Highness Olori Atuwatse III, the Queen Consort.
From Accra, the royal couple proceeded to Kumasi to attend today’s dinner ball.
The Olu of Warri, one of the most influential kings in Nigeria, is known for his transformative leadership and global influence.
The Olu is also a ruler who cherishes peace, a principle that resonates deeply with the international reputation of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
