DVLA opens new office at Boadua
A new one-storey office for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the Denkyembour District has been inaugurated.
The edifice, the biggest operational office within the area, is located at Boadua, near Akwatia in the Denkyembour District in the Eastern Region.
The facility boasts a driver licensing office, vehicle servicing centre, community-based technology (CBT), and a waiting area, among others.
The event brought together government officials, including the District Chief Executive for Denkyembour, the Board Chairman of the DVLA, George Spencer Quaye, chiefs, queenmothers and the general public.
Access
The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, said the people in the area would now be able to access DVLA services without having to travel long distances to Koforidua.

"This is more than just the opening of a building; it is about transforming service delivery. It is also about ensuring that no citizen is left behind because of where they live,” she said.
The minister added that construction of the facility was in line with a broader national mission of the government’s 24-hour Economy that prioritised innovation and efficiency.
Significance
Mr Quaye said since Akwatia was known as the Diamond City of Ghana, contributing more to the socio-economic development of the nation, it had become necessary to invest back into the area by putting up a new DVLA building.
He said the establishment of the office was also a testament to President John Mahama’s commitment to decentralise development in line with his resetting agenda of growth in every part of the country.
"Our main aim is to flush out the middlemen, popularly known as "goro boys", reduce corruption and ensure that every citizen enjoys fair, professional and timely service.
"We are investing in technology-driven solutions to make our operations more efficient, secure and customer-friendly", the chairman added.
