Financial technology critical to businesses in Ghana — CEO of eTranzact Ghana
The Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact Ghana, Dr John Apea, has stressed the critical role of financial technology in advancing financial inclusion across Ghana and the wider African continent.
He noted that the world was rapidly transitioning to a digital era, and communities that failed to embrace digital solutions, including fintech, risked being left behind.
Speaking after being named “Fintech CEO of the Year” at the 2024 Ghana Corporate Finance Gala Dinner held in Accra last Saturday, Dr Apea highlighted how fintech solutions could transform lives by providing convenient and trustworthy financial services to unbanked and underserved communities.
“As the world rapidly shifts to digital, communities that fail to embrace fintech solutions risk being left behind,” he said.
Awards
The awards event, organised by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), was on the theme: “Celebrating Excellence in the Corporate Finance Industry.”
It has been designed to recognise the exceptional achievements of CEOs, financial institutions and service providers across the various categories within the finance industry.
In all, over 30 organisations and individuals were honoured for their exceptional performances in the year under review.

Some of the awardees included the Executive Chairman of the Margins Group, Moses Baiden Jnr, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award for digital ID technology executive, while the Executive Chairman of the Glico Group, Dr Kwame Achampong-Kyei, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award in general insurance.

Leveraging technology
eTranzact Ghana, which also took home the award for Outstanding Payments Technologies Provider of the Year 2024, has been instrumental in driving digital financial inclusion.
Dr Apea said the company continued to leverage cutting-edge technology to bridge access gaps for individuals, businesses and institutions across Ghana.
He said as a subsidiary of the Pan-African fintech powerhouse, eTranzact Global, the Ghanaian arm offered a robust suite of payment solutions, including mobile money transfers, card payments, online banking integrations, and agency banking.
Dr Apea credited the recognition to the collective effort of the entire eTranzact Ghana team.
“This is not just a personal honour. It’s a tribute to the incredible minds and hearts at eTranzact Ghana. We’re building more than tech—we’re building trust, empowering businesses and changing lives,” he said.
eTranzact’s Communications and CSR Manager, Yvonne Effe Faska, described the awards as a testament to the team’s unwavering dedication.
“This award is a reflection of the tireless work and commitment of our entire team. It inspires us to keep raising the bar in payment technology,” she stated.
