Former President Akufo-Addo, other dignitaries sign Daddy Lumba’s book of condolence
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has signed the book of condolence opened in memory of highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
This was when he paid a visit to the family of the late musician yesterday to commiserate with them over their loss.
The former President, who had just returned from an international engagement, was accompanied by his former Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
It was disclosed that he shared a longstanding personal relationship with the deceased and felt compelled to pay his respects in person.
Visits
The visit is the latest of visits by high-profile personalities and members of the public to sympathise with the family during their period of bereavement.
Other dignitaries who called on the family included the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu and Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr Sammy Awuku.
Also, prominent media personalities such as Alfred Ocansey and Portia Gabor and Giovanni Caleb of TV3, as well as gospel musician Ricky Marfo, joined the growing number of sympathisers.
Others included actress and influencer Afia Odo, as well as several figures from the entertainment industry and social media circles.
At the residence, the atmosphere was solemn, with traditional dirges and gospel hymns playing in the background as mourners took turns to sign the book of condolence.
Although no formal statement has been issued by the family, funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
The large turnout underscored the deep public affection for Daddy Lumba and the widespread respect for the late relative, whose passing has drawn sympathies from across the country.
