Ga West Presbytery of PCG inaugurates Awoshie District

The Ga West Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) last Sunday inaugurated a new district as part of efforts to deepen church administration and expand mission work among its members.

The new district, the Awoshie District, becomes the 22nd district to be erected since the creation of the Ga West Presbytery, 10 years ago.

It has Zion Congregation, Awoshie, as its head station and consists of six congregations and one preaching point, namely: Zion Congregation, Awoshie; Grace Congregation, A-Lang; Mount Sinai Congregation, Antieku; Divine Congregation, Anyaa; Royal Priesthood Congregation, North Sowutuom; Victory Congregation, Omanjor; and the Anyaa Last Stop Preaching Point.

The ceremony also saw the induction of the new District Minister, Rev. Beatrice Ansah Kwakye, into office.

Growth and Vision

The Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery, Rev. Enoch Adjei Pobee, said the event marked 10 years of steady growth since the Ga West Presbytery was inaugurated in June 2016.

Rev. Pobee stated that the doubling of districts within a decade reflects not only numerical growth but also the impact of sustained evangelism and outreach efforts.

He said the increase showed that the church’s work was bearing fruit, adding that the church was now placing a stronger emphasis on discipleship to ensure lasting spiritual growth and commitment among members.

Rev. Pobee encouraged members to live Christ-like lives at home, work and in their communities.

He added that true Christianity should reflect in good character and positive behaviour.

Rev. Pobee urged members not to relent in their worship of God and further challenged Christians to live out their faith practically, warning against empty confessions of belief that are not reflected in daily conduct.

He also advised Christians to reject corruption, unethical practices, and immoral behaviour, insisting that genuine faith must produce visible integrity.

District Minister

In her acceptance speech, the new district minister, Rev. Ansah Kwakye, thanked the leadership of the Ga West Presbytery for the confidence reposed in her.

“I receive this responsibility with humility and with trust in God’s strength, not my own,” she said.

Outlining her vision for the district, the minister called on all members to actively support the work ahead, stressing that collective effort would be key to building a strong and vibrant district.

“My message to the members in the new district is that we have a lot of work to do. I am therefore entreating all of them to come on board.”

“All hands should be on deck so that together, we can steadily build the new district to the glory of God,” she said.
