GAUA UniMAC holds career guidance workshop for Osu Presby students
The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) Chapter of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has organised a career guidance workshop for students of Osu Presbyterian Senior High School (SHS) as part of its corporate social responsibilities (CSR).
The event, which aimed to inspire and guide the students in making informed decisions about their future careers saw participation of more 400 students from SHS one to three.
As part of the workshop, GAUA UniMAC Chapter donated 400 UniMAC branded notepads to the students at the workshop which took place at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Osu-Accra yesterday
The career guidance workshop was led by experienced professionals from GAUA, who shared their expertise and experiences with the students. The workshop covered a range of topics, including career choices, educational pathways, and the importance of hard work and determination.
Background
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, a member of CSR Committee, Benedicta Nyame, said the workshop formed part of GAUA’s Raising Next Professionals Initiative (RNPI) launched at the national level in 2023 aimed at contributing to shaping the career paths of the younger generation.
“The RNPI sought to connect senior administrators and professionals from public universities with students from public schools and was geared toward reducing unemployment and corrupt practices,” she said.
Mrs Nyame said the initiative also sought to expose students to various professional areas in a creative and interactive way, facilitate career counselling activities and provide an opportunity for students to engage with professionals of their dream occupations.
She expressed gratitude to the management of the school and the students for honouring their call and participating in the workshop.
Commitment and appreciation
The Immediate Past President of GAUA UniMAC Chapter, Ernest Afachao, further indicated that, the association was committed to giving back to the community and supporting the educational development of young people.
"We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of our young people, and we are committed to doing our part to support their growth and development," she said.
The Chaplain for Osu Presby SHS, Rev. Israel Offei Boateng, expressed his gratitude to GAUA for organising the workshop and donating the notebooks.
"We are deeply grateful for the support of GAUA, and we believe that this workshop will have a lasting impact on the lives of our students," he said.
