GCTU lecturer honoured

A Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Dr Emmanuel Attah Kumah Amponsah, has been awarded the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the London-based Centre for Business & Economic Research (CBER), a Continuous Professional Certification (CPD) service provider.

CBER was founded in London in 2006 to inspire, recognise and support excellence in Business and Economic research, and also serves as a recognised CPD Certification Service provider.

Dr Amponsah was among nine distinguished scholars awarded THE fellowship at the 14th International Conference on the Restructuring of the Global Economy (ROGE-2025).

The award is in recognition of his remarkable leadership, scholarly excellence, and lifelong contributions to research and education both in Ghana and internationally.

The two-day conference held at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom (UK), was organised by the CBER and the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, Future University in Egypt, on August 11 and 12, this year, and brought together participants from 21 countries and 90 institutions, including academics, policymakers, business leaders and researchers.

The conference was on the theme: “Restructuring of the Global Economy: Promoting Sustainability”.

The Centre for Business & Economic Research (CBER) bestows Honorary Fellowship on individuals who have made an exceptional impact in entrepreneurship, research, and education on both national and international fronts.

This year, the centre selected Dr Amponsah and the eight others from 34 nominations it received from 21 countries, reflecting global excellence and innovation. 

After a rigorous review and voting process, only six outstanding personalities were selected for the fellowship, with Dr Amponsah standing tall among them.

The recognition celebrates his role as Head of the Accounting, Banking and Finance Department at GCTU, his commitment to advancing scholarship, and his contribution to shaping research and professional practice in Ghana and abroad.

Speakers included Prof. Dr Christopher David Bellamy, Rear Admiral M. Khaled Iqbal, Bangladesh, Dr Michael Richard Wagner, Prof. Malgorzata Magdalena, and Dr Amponsah.

The Executive Chair of CBER, Dr Palto Datta, said the gathering was timely as the world faces complex economic, social and environmental challenges.

“ROGE-2025 provides a valuable platform to foster critical dialogue and thought leadership. The goal is to cultivate an environment of curiosity, collaboration, and constructive exchange, one that honours the lessons of the past while looking boldly towards the future,” he said.

Dr Amponsah was honoured alongside distinguished academics, including the  Vice-Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria, Prof. Saadatu Hassan Liman; a Professor and Former Head, Department of Commerce, West Bengal State University, India, Prof. Dr Pranam Dhar; an Associate Professor of Business Communication, Management Development Institute Gurgaon, India, Dr Vidhu Gaur; and the Vice-Chancellor, Government College University Hyderabad, India, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif, and Prof. (Dr) Michael Richard Wagner, University of Cincinnati, USA.

Message of gratitude

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Amponsah expressed how “honoured and humbled” he was by the recognition.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. Your encouragement has been instrumental in my success.

I feel privileged to be one of the recipients of this award.
