The Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Reverend Dominic Yeo, has described Ghana as a beacon of hope for the continent, leading the way for Africa’s economic prosperity and political stability.
He said the country’s stability, peace, tolerance and democratic credentials positioned it as a model nation in Africa, cementing its status as the shining star of the continent.
“In Africa and beyond, Ghana is known for its democratic stability, credible election, peaceful transfer of power, respect for the rule of law, religious tolerance, media freedom and enduring peace.
“Ghana is indeed a beacon of hope, spiritually, socially, economically and politically. These are treasures that must never be taken for granted,” Rev. Yeo declared at the launch of the 2026 World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress in Accra.
Congress
The congress will be held in Accra from October 14 to 16, 2026, on the theme “Commission: One mandate, every nation.”
It is expected to attract over 10,000 participants, and will feature plenary sessions, workshops, evening revival rallies, global networking, vendor exhibitions as well as spiritual revival alongside socio-economic benefits, including tourism growth.
Reverend Yeo noted that Ghana was the first African nation to host the World Assemblies of God Congress, highlighting the country’s spiritual significance and preparedness to play a significant role in such a revered global event.
Benefits
Rev. Yeo highlighted the economic and social benefits of hosting the congress, including boosting tourism, increasing business opportunities, boosting the country’s international visibility, and complementing its role as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which sought to develop a continental market of 1.3 billion people.
He also emphasised the spiritual significance of the congress, which aligned with the Assemblies of God’s agenda aimed at establishing one million churches by 2033.
“While economic advancement is important, in the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, we believe that the battle against spiritual poverty is even more urgent.
Through MM33, we will ignite revival, strengthen pastors and communication, raise missionaries, empower the next generation, and mobilise the entire Global Fellowship for unprecedented Kingdom growth in Africa.” he added.
He commended the leadership of Assemblies of God Ghana for their commitment to discipleship, evangelism and church growth, assuring them of the full support of the global fellowship.
Divine role
The Special Guest and Executive Chairman of the First Sky Group, Eric Seddy Kutortse , said the congress being held in Ghana was a divine and historic milestone for the country and the continent at large.
“A new Africa is rising, from Accra to Lagos, Nairobi , Lusaka, Cape Town and Addis Ababa , a generation is emerging that believes Africa is no more a dear mission force, rather Africa is a nation force. So, let the 2026 congress be our declaration that the gospel has completed its title, from Jerusalem to the nation, and now from Africa back to the world,” he said.
He encouraged corporate Ghana, followers of the gospel and the Kingdom investors to partner the Assemblies of God and ensure a successful congress in the country
Preparation
The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, said the historic significance and benefits of the country being the first African country to host the World Congress could not be underestimated.
He outlined extensive preparations, including the establishment of a local organising committee, secretariat and strategic stakeholder engagements, notably with the Government of Ghana led by President John Dramani Mahama.
He further emphasised the congress’s potential to further unite the church, boost tourism, empower local businesses and showcase Ghanaian hospitality, and expressed gratitude to the World Assemblies of God Fellowship for entrusting Ghana with this responsibility, stressing collective dedication to ensuring the event’s success and leaving a lasting spiritual, social and economic impact.
