GH¢2.5m up for grabs - 3rd Luckiest Seasonal Draw launched
The third edition of “The Luckiest Seasonal Draw” has been launched, with the luckiest ticket standing the chance to win GH¢2.5 million.
The 2025 edition, launched by GeniusLoci, proprietors of the seasonal raffle draw, in collaboration with the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) in Accra last Wednesday (August 20), is expected to run till December 20 this year, when the winners of various prizes would be announced.
The Luckiest seasonal lottery is a social and entrepreneurial intervention positioned as a mass consumable product to benefit all facets of life, communities, livelihoods and professions.
The intervention is aimed at creating a bigger pool of funds through seasonal draws to widen the net for uplifting the public from poverty while supporting the growth of communities and groups.
Prize
The launch, which was characterised by a mini-draw, saw some lucky winners go home with television sets, mobile phones and power banks.
This year’s winning prize of GH¢2.5 million is 500 times the highest purchase of a ticket of GH¢5,000 face value.
Winners are also expected to go home with several items, including television sets, mobile phones and power banks.
This year’s draw has also introduced a new dimension to community-wide fundraising and redistribution of wealth across social groups and professions in the country.
Generally, the draw is considered an impressive upgrade on the last two editions.
In the first edition held in 2023, over 117,000 people participated, out of which over 1,600 people got different cash rewards in the final draw, with the luckiest ticket receiving GH¢1 million.
In the second edition held last year, over 400,000 people participated, with over 4,000 people receiving different cash rewards, while the luckiest ticket went home with GH₵1 million.
Community tour, participation
Speaking at last Wednesday’s launch, the Chief Executive Officer of The Luckiest, Dennis Adutwum, said as part of this year’s draw, the luckiest ticket would tour various communities to create more awareness and encourage participation.
He said under the seasonal lottery, there were 100 communities represented by a group of people with similar circumstances and aspirations.
“We have 100 communities which are represented by a group of people that have similar circumstances, similar aspirations, hopes and all of that. We’ll be coming to washing bays across Ghana, we'll be going to restaurants, we'll be going to corporate offices, we'll be visiting hospitals, and these are some of the communities,” he said.
Mr Adutwum emphasised that the seasonal draw was created for an ordinary person to win as high as GH₵2.5 million, a life-changing prize for the winner.
He indicated that The Luckiest was instituted to help with corporate social responsibilities, which, he said, also promised to be bigger this year.
Participants are to dial the short code *712# to purchase tickets either randomly or specific five-digit numbers from 00000 to 99999 for as low as GH¢1 and as high as GH¢5,000.
The CEO of The Luckiest expressed gratitude to the NLA and the Caritas Team for supporting the company’s raffle game and ensuring that a transparent platform was deployed for the smooth running of The Luckiest.
Compliance
For his part, the acting Director of Marketing, Caritas and Event of the NLA, Kwabena Opoku Boakye, said The Luckiest Draw had met all compliance protocols following the perusal of the company’s application.
“We did our checks, then we realised that the company has a very high level of integrity, they met all our compliance, they ticked all the compliance boxes,” he said.
He said the draw offered a great platform for individuals and communities, and that it would afford the NLA the resources to do more corporate social responsibility duties.
Mr Opoku Boakye further urged the public to engage in responsible gambling and not exceed the limit set by the GeniusLoci and the NLA in The Luckiest Seasonal Draw.
