GIMPA matriculates 1,857 fresh students

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has received 1,857 new students for the September 2025 intake into its academic community.

The event, which was held last Friday at the Greenhill campus, marked the official induction of new students into GIMPA’s four schools and satellite campuses across the country.

In all, 519 students were admitted into the GIMPA Business School, 321 into the Faculty of Law, 471 into the School of Public Service and Governance and 293 into the School of Technology and Social Sciences.

The Tema Campus enrolled 58 students, the Takoradi Campus 117 and the Kumasi Campus 78.

To students

Addressing the ceremony, the Rector of GIMPA, Professor Samuel K. Bonsu, urged matriculants to embrace curiosity, creativity and courage as they embark on their academic journey.

He reminded them that their time at GIMPA would be a transformative period that would challenge their perspectives, values and sense of purpose.

“During your period here, you will encounter new ideas, friends and challenges.

You may be required to push the boundaries on many fronts, as a challenge to your person, your philosophy and your potential as a leader,” he said.

He said the foundation GIMPA provided was meant to last a lifetime and encouraged students to take advantage of the institute’s rich resources to discover and harness their potential.

Prof. Bonsu further advised students to see mistakes as opportunities for learning rather than failure.

“Be curious, be creative, experiment and make mistakes; that is the essence of learning,” he said.

“But never repeat the same mistake twice. Each should become a basis for growth.”

The rector said education at GIMPA is about acquiring academic knowledge and developing empathy, collaboration and social awareness.

“You are not here just to learn; you are here to contribute to your peers, your lecturers and society.

Extend that love and sense of community to others.

Respect everyone regardless of their background or status.

Education is the ultimate equaliser,” he added.

Prof. Bonsu further charged them to be agents of change and responsible citizens.

Values

The Deputy Rector, Professor Ebenezer Adaku, also urged the students to uphold the values of excellence, integrity and service that GIMPA represents.

He said GIMPA is a “beacon of academic excellence and professional integrity,” adding that the institute was committed to meeting the evolving needs of society through education and innovation.

He encouraged students to take advantage of the mentorship and support systems available and to approach their studies with discipline and determination.

“The road ahead would present challenges, but with resilience, focus and commitment to excellence, I do not doubt that you would achieve success here at GIMPA,” he said.
