The event, held at the community centre, offered eye screenings, blood pressure checks and sugar level tests to over 150 residents from both within and beyond the community, with attendees who struggle to read receiving complimentary reading glasses.

The outreach featured product giveaways from sponsors including Gino, Yazz and Pepsodent, enhancing the event's overall impact. Other sponsors included: Pleroma Springs Foundation, Becks Glaucoma Foundation Ghana, the Golden Boat Premium Enterprise, Sazian Integrative Clinic and the Landima Restaurant.

A health education segment was also part of the programme, during which healthcare professionals provided valuable information on maintaining good health, dental care, and managing natural age-related conditions such as menopause and andropause.

The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Violet Obeng, also known as Akosua Vee, emphasised the foundation’s commitment to providing health services to underserved communities.

Top priority

“Health is my top priority. Our mission is to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent anyone from accessing essential health checks. We previously held a similar outreach in April at Gomoa Pomadze, and this will certainly not be the last,” she stated.

She added that the Vee Foundation would continue to pursue its mission of supporting health and wellness in various communities, aiming to be a ray of hope for the less privileged.

With ongoing efforts to engage more sponsors and healthcare professionals, Mrs Obeng noted her foundation’s plans to return to the community with in-depth and advanced health checks.

Some of beneficiaries

Some beneficiaries noted how the screening had made a significant difference in their lives. A 62-year-old resident, who only gave her name as Hawa Abdul Mohammed, expressed her gratitude after receiving free eye screening and reading glasses.

“I’ve struggled with blurry vision for a long time and couldn’t afford to go to the hospital. Today, I have reading glasses that will help me read comfortably. I’m so thankful to the Vee Foundation and the sponsors,” she said.
