Govt agencies, tech firms recognised for driving digital inclusion

Seventeen government institutions, technology firms and individuals have been recognised for their roles in advancing the country’s digital transformation.

At the Dinner and Awards Night, which climaxed the 2025 National ICT Week in Accra last Friday, government officials, industry leaders, and innovators gathered to celebrate achievements in digital service delivery, cybersecurity, cloud adoption, connectivity and emerging technologies.

The National ICT Week is an annual week-long programme organised by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to celebrate the nation’s progress in digitalisation and rally stakeholders around the growth of its digital economy.

It served as a platform where government, private sector, academia, innovators, civil society and international partners came together to advance innovation, launch policies, foster trade strategies, promote digital inclusion and build partnerships for growth.

Recognition

Top awardees included the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), the Office of the Head of Civil Service, and the Births and Deaths Registry, all recognised for deploying transformative e-platforms that have modernised public service delivery.

The DVLA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Julius Neequaye Kotey, was named ICT CEO of the Year, while PPA’s Chief Technical Officer, Thomas Bondzi, received the CTO of the Year Award.

The Volta River Authority (VRA) picked up the Workflow Automation Excellence Award for streamlining internal operations, while the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) was named National Cloud Adopter of the Year for migrating core applications to the cloud.

In connectivity, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ghana Police Service and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) were recognised for providing secure, sector-wide digital links across their branches and regional offices.

The Bank of Ghana, the Passport Office and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority received honours for strengthening digital security and trust.

Private sector

Private sector innovation was also celebrated.

eSolutions Consulting Ltd won for its Smart Workplace platform, while Npontu Technologies and Mingo Blox were recognised as pioneers in artificial intelligence and robotics, respectively.

The awards also highlighted inclusion and advocacy, with the Co-Founder of STEM Inclusion Ghana, Antoinette Ohene Amoah, recognised for her mentorship of young girls in ICT, and the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) commended for driving partnerships that support digital adoption across the public sector.

Readiness

The Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, described the 2025 ICT Week as a demonstration of the country’s readiness to lead Africa’s digital future.

He added that the week fostered rich discussions, innovative solutions and strategic partnerships, emphasising that technology was ultimately about empowerment, opportunity and inclusive growth.

On behalf of the substantive minister, he lauded the NITA, its board, staff and partners for their role in building a secure and citizen-centred digital ecosystem.

Mr. Sukparu urged participants to sustain the momentum, assuring them of the government’s continued support through the right policies, investments and ideas, as highlighted during this week’s celebration.

The Director-General of NITA, Mark-Oliver Kevor, also described the 2025 ICT Week as an inspiring gathering that united policymakers, industry leaders, innovators and academia around the country’s vision of becoming Africa’s digital trade hub.

He highlighted key milestones achieved, including the recognition of the certifying authority and Ghana’s hosting of the African PKI Consortium.

He said the closing dinner was a time for appreciation, networking and fellowship, celebrating both the week’s achievements and the promise of what lay ahead, urging stakeholders to sustain the collaborative spirit.
