Graphic commiserates with Melcom Group over ‘Grandmaster’

The Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) has paid a courtesy call on Melcom Group, one of its key partners, following the loss of the revered staff of the latter.

The visit was to officially commiserate with the Melcom Group for the loss of its Group Communication Director, Godwin Avenorgbo, who would be laid to rest next weekend.

The GCGL delegation also assured the Melcom Group, one of its key partners over the past decades, of its support.

The delegation from GCGL led by the Head of Marketing, Franklin Sowa, also included the Adverts and Sales Manager, George Danso; the Deputy News Editor, Ebo Kwaitoo, and Mavis Kyerewaa Boateng, who represented the Head of Corporate Affairs.

The delegation also presented a copy of its annual publication, the “Ghana Year Book” to commemorate the visit in memory of Mr Avenorgbo, who was an ace broadcaster, journalist and marketing communicator.

The delegation was received by the leadership of Melcom Group, made up of the two Joint Group Managing Directors (MDs), Ramesh Sadhwani and Mahesh Melwani; Group Executive Director, Sonya Sadhwani; and Group General Manager, Francis Sam.

Support

At a brief meeting, the leader of the GCGL delegation, Mr Franklin Sowa, affirmed GCGL’s commitment to supporting the Melcom Group in maintaining the good image of the late Mr Avenorgbo who played a strong role in deepening the relationship between the two companies.

“We want to assure you of our support as a company following this tragic loss. Already, we have done a lot of publications about him in the Daily Graphic and online. He has been a part of us for a very long time and the media will miss him. We know what he means to you, Melcom Group has been his second home literally,” he said.

He added that the GCGL was open to any partnership to help give the deceased a befitting burial and also maintain the lasting relationship between the GCGL and the

Melcom Group which had spanned over three decades.

Mr Sowa eulogised the memory of the deceased, describing him as a unique person full of experience and knowledge that many people who came close to him testified of.

Appreciation

The Joint Group MD, Mr Sadhwani, expressed gratitude to the GCGL for showing examples and sharing in the loss of their staff and gave an assurance that the Melcom Group would collaborate with the family in the best way possible to ensure the success of the funeral.

He added that the company’s leadership had signed the book of condolence in honour of the deceased and would also collaborate with the family so that the legacy and memory of Mr Avenorgbo are preserved in the hearts of the many people who had encountered him throughout his life.

Also, Joint Group MD, Mr Melwani, recounted that the departed was beyond a staff of the company who projected a great image of the company in the media, as he was very open to discussing personal life experiences and developments in the country.

Mrs Sadhwani, for her part, commended GCGL for taking a great step in visiting the company in recognition of the great partnership the two institutions had forged.

“You’re the first institution to come here and commiserate with us and we appreciate this act. This is a sign that you thought of us and that we have also lost a member of this family and not only the family and the media fraternity,” she said.
