GREDA gets new council members
The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association(GREDA) has elected and sworn in new council members with Dr James Condua Orleans-Lindsay as president.
GREDA was founded in October 1988 and its constitution enshrines a nine-member council comprising president, first vice president, second vice president, executive secretary, treasurer, and four council members.
The nine-member council, elected under the auspices of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, has a three-year tenure, renewable for an additional three years.
The other executive members are Dr Stephen Debrah-Ablormeti, First Vice President; Bright Adom, Second Vice President; Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Executive Secretary; Harry Quartey, Treasurer with Philip Korletey, Sitsofe Akpebu, Frank Agyare and Dasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, as members.
They were sworn into office under the supervision of a judge at the GREDA Breakfast Meeting in Accra and their office takes immediate effect.
Swearing-in
At the swearing-in of the new Executive Council, the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, said the real estate sector is a key driver of economic growth and development in the country.
While commending GREDA for its contribution in helping to meet housing needs, he also encouraged them to adopt strategies and innovations to make housing safe and affordable for the ordinary person.
“Housing in particular remains a critical pillar of our national development agenda, and I commend GREDA for its continuous contributions towards meeting Ghana’s housing needs,” he emphasised.
All on board
In his brief speech, the GREDA president encouraged non-active members to have a renewed commitment to the ideals of the association and to join the new executive council to move the association to greater achievements.
He, on behalf of the association, extended membership to estate developers who were not registered with the association.
“Their inclusion will make GREDA more formidable, strengthen its base, and give the association a better, proactive, and more efficient common front to overcome the challenges peculiar to realtors and input suppliers, which will greatly enable GREDA as a group to provide cogent solutions to the housing needs of the country,” the president stated.
He pledged to lead the council to build a dynamic and result-driven community of realtors to champion policies and innovations aimed at advancing industry standards and making Ghana and Ghanaians, the ultimate beneficiaries.
