GTBank donates 100 motorbikes to boost police patrols, community policing

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Ltd has presented 100 brand-new motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in a major show of support for national security and community policing efforts.

The motorbikes, each fitted with safety kits and fully fuelled, have been branded and are ready for deployment.

They will be distributed to police commands nationwide to enhance operations such as daily patrols, traffic regulation and emergency response.

The donation, which forms part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, is aimed at strengthening the operational mobility of the police and enhancing their presence and efficiency across the country.

The motorbikes were handed over to the service at the Police Headquarters in Accra yesterday at a ceremony which was witnessed by senior executives from GTBank Ghana, led by the Managing Director, Thomas Attah John, as well as high-ranking officers of the Ghana Police Service, led by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

National development

The MD of GTBank Ghana underscored the bank’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development by supporting key public institutions.

Mr John stated that ensuring the safety and security of communities was a shared responsibility, and one that GTBank Ghana was proud to be a part of.

“We believe a secure environment is fundamental to national growth and prosperity.

These motorbikes are our contribution towards enhancing the visibility, responsiveness, and reach of the GPS in serving and protecting our communities.

We are proud to play a role in strengthening the logistics of the police force,” he said.

Appreciation

The IGP, who received the donation on behalf of the service, expressed deep appreciation to the bank for its continued support.

Mr Yohuno described the gesture as timely, especially as the police intensified efforts to improve patrols in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

“This timely donation will go a long way in improving our patrol capabilities, especially in remote and underserved areas.

It is also a powerful signal of how the private sector can complement our efforts in building a safer Ghana.

We are deeply grateful to GTBank Ghana for this gesture of partnership and national service,” the IGP said.
