“There will be interruption of water supply to the Eastern part of the Greater-Accra Region from last Sunday, 25th August 2024. This is expected to affect water supply to Dodowa, Oyibi, Frafraha, Adenta, Madina, Ashongman, Haatso, La, Osu, Kanda, Airport Residential Area, Legon and surrounding communities”.
“This occurred due to a burst on the transmission line from the Kpong Treatment plant to the Dodowa Booster Station, affecting the North-Eastern parts of the metropolis,” it said.
The statement added that although repair works were completed, other challenges were identified on the same transmission line which necessitated another shutdown.
Assurance
The GWCL assured its customers that its engineers were working around the clock to replace the weak section of the transmission line for supply to resume as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, plans were outlined to serve the affected areas with water tankers, particularly essential service providers such as hospitals and schools in the affected areas.
“The public is assured that barring any unforeseen predicament, the project will be completed by close of day on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 and supply will resume immediately the project is completed,” the statement added.
The GWCL added that the situation was under control, and that it was doing everything possible to complete the repair works and restore supply to the affected areas.
It also entreated residents of the capital, especially consumers in the Eastern part of the region, to manage the water they had in their receptacles to forestall any unpleasant situation.
