La Bawaleshie Presby School receives school supplies from Karpowership
The La Bawaleshie Presbyterian Basic School in East Legon, Accra, has received a donation of essential school supplies and sanitary items to enhance learning and also promote hygienic practice in the school.
The donation, which took place last Friday, included exercise books, storybooks, pens, pencils, cardboards, learning aids for teachers, handwashing stations and dustbins.
The gesture, which is intended to benefit all the over 700 learners of the school, is also expected to promote a healthier and cleaner school setting.
The donation, from power producer, Karpowership Ghana, was in commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Education.
This initiative is part of Karpowership Ghana’s broader “Powering Communities Through Education” project, which focuses on empowering communities through education and fostering sustainable development.
This year’s commemoration, which was on the theme: “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation”, underscored the transformative power of education in the face of technological advancements.
Power of education
The Communications Manager of the company, Sandra Amarquaye, who led a delegation from Karpowership Ghana to present the items, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting education as it was a catalyst for development and progress.
“Education is a cornerstone of societal growth, and at Karpowership Ghana, we are proud to contribute to initiatives that empower students and teachers with the resources they need to thrive.
“As we mark the International Day of Education, we reflect on the critical role education plays in preserving human agencies, especially in an age of automation. We hope this donation inspires students to embrace innovation and pursue excellence,” Ms Amarquaye said.
Timely gesture
The Headmaster of La Bawaleshie Presbyterian School, Rev. Charlemagne Aryee, on behalf of the management of the school, expressed gratitude for the timely gesture.
He said it would help in encouraging the children to practise the hygienic protocols to keep them protected from diseases.
“This donation comes at a crucial time as we tackle an acute cholera outbreak as a country.
“It will also go a long way to equip our students with essential sanitary items to practise proper handwashing and maintain high standards of hygiene.
This support will significantly improve the learning environment and provide critical assistance to both our students and teachers. We are profoundly grateful to Karpowership Ghana for finding us to be a blessing to us. We are grateful," he said.
Some of the learners expressed their excitement, particularly about the donation of the storybooks.
“The new books and pens will help us take better notes and complete our assignments on time.
“We’re particularly excited about the storybooks as they will help us deepen our knowledge when we read them. It’s great to know that people care about our education,” Patience Efepke, one of the learners speaking on behalf of all the learners, said.
