LaTeNu Radio launches 10th anniversary in Accra
A Private Ga radio station in Accra, LaTeNu Radio, has launched its 10th anniversary celebration with a call to Gas to prioritise their language.
The General Manager of the station, Edward Laryea, said LaTeNu radio was a community station that came into existence as a result of a decision by the people of La to have a radio station that would operate solely in the local dialect.

He said although they had achieved some successes, they were working hard to perform better in the ensuing years.
Mr Laryea said as part of measures to promote professionalism at the station, management decided to support some of the journalists to upgrade themselves, especially as the December 7 general election approached.
The year-long anniversary celebration would include activities such as sanitation exercises in and around the community, lectures, health awareness campaigns and donations to an orphanage, among others.
Objectives
The Founding President of the James Town Development Association, Ladi Nylander, who chaired the event, said the station was aimed at promoting the language and culture of the Ga people.
A Board Member of the radio station, Florence Oddoye, added that the station would strengthen the bond with its listeners.
She commended employees and loyal listeners of the station for their hard work over the years.

Challenges
A Board Member of the radio station, Emmanuel Boyefio, said that although the station was performing well, they were still faced with some challenges.
He mentioned the expansion of the La Poly Clinic on the premises of the station, which, he said, was affecting their operations due to lack of space.
Mr Boyefio also said that considering the level of digitisation in the country, the station needed to catch up by installing modern equipment and training staff.
He, therefore, appealed for support from individuals and corporate bodies.

Mr Boyefio further said that the management of the station intended to add a TV station and put up a modern studio and office complex large enough to contain both staff and equipment.
