Lawrencia Sarhene honoured at 25th National Tourism Awards

The Chief Executive Officer of Veronique Heights, Lawrencia Sarhene, was adjudged the Indigenous Tourism Investment Developer at the 25th National Tourism Awards held in Accra a fortnight ago.

Veronique Heights, though barely new in the tourism fraternity, remains a shining example of innovation and quality in Ghana’s hospitality industry, as it continues to push the boundaries of guest experience.

An ultra-modern, serene arcade with every imaginable trending facility in a ‘first-class’ hotel, Veronique cuddles its patrons.

The feat adds to the thriving image of Veronique Heights, which also distinguished itself at the 2024 awards, organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), as the Best Service Apartment of the year.

The night event, which brought together players in the tourism industry, was held on the theme: “Celebrating Ghanaian Ingenuity and Excellence in Tourism: the Black Star Experience”.

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) honoured excellence in various categories, including Hotel of the Year, Tour Guide of the Year, Tour Operator of the Year, Chef of the Year, Creative Tourism Performance of the Year, Community-Based Tourism Initiative and Frontline Staff Excellence.

Traditional rulers honoured with Tourism Promotion Awards included the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and the Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area in the Western Region, Nana Kobina Nketsia V.

Appreciation

“This recognition means a lot to me and I do not take it for granted.

Thank you for believing in me and for celebrating this moment with me,” Ms Sarhene told the Daily Graphic in an interview.

She believes teamwork had always been the fulcrum of Veronique Heights, touting it as the foundation of their successes, while commending her dedicated staff for their immense contributions.

Asked what makes Veronique Heights unique among others, the CEO said, “I believe it’s our confidentiality practice, our luxury space and also I have a solid team of professionals when it comes to guests and their well-being.

Hallmark

Ms Sarhene added that Veronique Heights, located at Danyame in the Kumasi Metropolis, had become a household name in Kumasi because of its hospitality, tight security, and, more importantly, its commitment to the confidentiality of its patrons.

“Imagine ‘sneaking’ into a hotel to enjoy some privacy and before you realise, your pictures have found their way to the public domain or in recent times, social media without your consent,” she told the Daily Graphic, saying “confidentiality has always been our hallmark”.

Asantehene’s recognition

During its opening on July 21, 2023, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was the special guest who cut the tape to unveil the plush Veronique Heights, and thus affixed his ‘royal stamp’ to the facility's successful operation.

The Asantehene was quoted as sayin: “This is indeed, a home away from home. In fact, I am proud to associate myself with this edifice built by one of my own — a native of the Ashanti Kingdom”.
