MP organises mock examination for 48 public, private junior high schools

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has financed the organisation of a mock examination for 1,494 final-year students from 48 public and private Junior High Schools in the Birim Central Municipality.

The gesture is aimed at preparing the students adequately to perform creditably in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The beneficiaries included 23 public schools, 20 private and five Islamic schools.

The MP accompanied by the Birim Central Municipal Director of Education, Gloria Agyiri Kelson, last Tuesday, monitored the students taking part in the mock examination at various JHSs in the municipality.

Mr Acquah advised the students to study hard in order to obtain good grades to gain admission to the best senior high schools.

He gave an assurance that he would offer scholarships to students who would excel in the BECE.

According to the MP, the previous mock examinations he organised for the past four years helped the past pupils to obtain very good grades in the BECE and, therefore, urged the current students to take a cue from them.

Mr Acquah assured the students that each of them would be provided with mathematical sets as he had done for the past four years.

Ms Agyiri Kelson, on her part, advised the pupils to refrain from examination malpractices as they would be punished when they are caught.

She stressed that obtaining false grades through examination malpractices could result in the production of half-baked professionals such as doctors, among others.

Ms Agyiri Kelson, said at a recent meeting with education managers, including Municipal and District Director Education, and officials of the West African Examinations Council, that they would deal drastically with students and teachers arrested for their involvement in all examination practices this year.
