NDC will work with queenmothers to fight poverty — Prof. Opoku-Agyemang
The Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, says the next NDC government will actively engage and work with queenmothers to fight poverty.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said this when she addressed a forum of Central Regional Queenmothers last Tuesday.

Speaking on the theme: "Building the Central Region we want, the shared perspectives from our queenmothers”, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said, “it leaves much to be desired that the Central Region is described as the fourth poorest region in Ghana”.
She added it was imperative that governments collaborate with traditional authorities, especially queen mothers, to fight poverty in the region.
Policies
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the next NDC government would introduce the 24-Hour Economy, Women’s Development Bank, National Apprenticeship Programme and the Big Push to help create jobs and financially empower women across the country, adding “the Central Region would not be left out”.
She said, among other interventions to empower women, the next NDC government would also build new markets and expand infrastructure in the region.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further noted that teenage pregnancy was also high in the region and the next NDC government would collaborate with queenmothers to find a lasting solution to the problem.
She urged the queenmothers to vote massively for the NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, on Saturday to enable him to fulfil his electoral promises to the people of Ghana.
