Peace, unity, transparency will develop Osudoku — Nene Animle

The new Paramount Chief of the Osudoku Traditional Area, in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region, Nene Kweku-Otiti Animle VII, has advised people to embrace peace, unity and commitment.

Speaking at a traditional council meeting at Osuwem last Thursday, the new paramount chief urged his people to maintain transparency in all their actions to promote unity and development.

“I want everybody to ensure that peace prevails in all the towns and villages under Osudoku, which I oversee, especially the traditional leaders representing me there.

Peace supersedes everything, and where there is peace, there is understanding, and where there is understanding, it brings about unity and transparency among others, hence development, he said.

The paramount chief, a legal practitioner, also admitted the Divisional Chief of Kasunya, Nene Nater Otutoto Akakposu V, into the Osudoku Traditional Council.

The Osudoku Traditional Area comprises eight divisions, including Dorsi, Gbese Dorm, Gbese Terkoursi, Gbese Kponor, Lanor, Kasunya, Tsangmer and Klekpa.

In his acceptance speech, Nene Animle welcomed the divisional chief on behalf of the Osudoku Traditional Council and said he had the full support of the traditional council and there was a need for him also to live up to expectations with regard to the chieftaincy institution.

Nene Animle, who was installed recently after the demise of his predecessor, Ngmongmowuyaa Aadegbor Kwesi Animle VI, said even though he inherited pockets of chieftaincy disputes, the people of Kasunya did well by installing Nene Akakposu to represent them in the traditional council, which would go a long way to promote their development.

Advice

He advised Nene Akakposu to collaborate with his elders, as they are his counsellors. He also encouraged him to hold regular meetings with his elders and share ideas with them and the entire Kasunya community, since this would strengthen his leadership.

Nene Akakposu expressed his gratitude to the paramount chief and the traditional council for their acceptance and expressed his intention to follow the advice from Nene Animle, adding, “I shall live up to expectation with regards to coexistence with my people at Kasunya and our traditional council norms.”

Courtesy call

In a related development and as part of the traditional council meeting, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shai-Osudoku, Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, paid a courtesy call on the Osudoku Traditional Council, during which he discussed important issues for the development of the area.

The DCE enumerated a lot of tourism and entertainment potentials in the Osudoku area, including paragliding and pleaded with the chiefs and the people of the Osudoku area to assist the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly to develop the area.

Nene Animle, in response, said he and his chiefs were ever ready to assist with resources, including land that would be needed for the development of the area.
