Policeman interdicted for alleged assault on civilian
A General Corporal of the Ghana Police Service has been interdicted by the service for assaulting a civilian in Takoradi in the Western Region.

The officer, has been identified as General Corporal Wise Bessey,with number № 49187, stationed at the Takoradi District Police Command.
In a post on its Facebook Wall yesterday (Feb.2) the police stated that the interdiction was implemented to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into an alleged assault case levelled against G/Corporal Wisse by a member of the public.
The interdiction is in line with Police Service Regulations.

Also, following the complaint, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare has contacted the victim to assure the individual of the necessary police assistance and a thorough investigation into the matter.
The statement did not say if the victim was a male or female.
The police have meanwhile, affirmed their commitment to ensuring that their officers at all times, conduct themselves professionally.
“We wish to assure the public that the Police will continue to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times in the discharge of our mandate.”
