Rotary Club of Accra Labone launches 25th anniversary
The Rotary Club of Accra Labone has launched its 25th anniversary celebrations to mark a quarter-century of dedicated service to communities in the country through impactful humanitarian and development initiatives.
It will be held on the theme: “Honouring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future”.
The year-long celebration will feature a series of activities, including community outreach programmes, fundraising events, a charity karaoke night, the rehabilitation of the La Yahosua Junior High School block and a public lecture.
The launch brought together Rotarians, guests, partners and club members to reflect on the club’s journey since its establishment.
Resilience
Speaking at the launch, the President of the club, Kuukua Twum-Baah, said the milestone was not just a marker of time but a testament to the club’s resilience, commitment, and shared passion that had driven it since its charter on June 29, 2001.
“For 25 years, our club has embodied the Rotary spirit of ‘Service Above Self’.
We have grown from a small circle of visionary professionals into a vibrant, dynamic family of Rotarians united by fellowship and a relentless desire to make a difference,” she added.
The club, she said, had remained a strong force in promoting volunteerism for 25 years, supporting vulnerable groups, and advancing Rotary International’s mission of creating lasting change locally and globally.
She said the anniversary was an opportunity to strengthen fellowship among members and to inspire a new generation of leaders committed to social transformation.
She expressed gratitude to the founder members, past presidents, partners, and supporters whose dedication had sustained the club’s growth and achievements over the last 25 years.
Reflection
Addressing the event virtually, the Chapter President, Rita Adjetey, said the 25th anniversary was a moment of pride and reflection for all members of the club.
She said the club remained committed to the ideals of service, fellowship and community development over the years, making a meaningful impact on the lives of many vulnerable groups across the country.
The District Governor, Nana Yaa Siriboe, emphasised that the anniversary was a celebration of people, purpose, and love for service.
She said for 25 years, the club had carried hope into communities, comfort into homes, and opportunity into lives.
“We have served quietly and faithfully — often without applause — but always with compassion. Every project, every meeting, every act of kindness has been driven by hearts that genuinely care,” she added.
