Team Afriwave picks honours at National Communications Awards
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Afriwave Telecom, Francis Poku, has urged the CEOs of the various telecommunication companies and the industry players to come up with policies that would reduce the high cost of data in the country.

He expressed concern about the high cost of data in the country, a situation which, he said, was affecting individuals and businesses that called for strategies that would enable the average Ghanaian to access the internet.
Mr Poku made the remark at the sixth edition of the National Communications Awards, last Saturday in which Afriwave Telecom was honoured.
The company was adjudged the “Outstanding Interconnect Clearing House Provider of the Year”, and the CEO of Afriwave Telecom, Francis Poku, won the “Industry Leadership Award”, while the Chairman and Founder of Afriwave Telecom, David Poku, won the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.

The award was in recognition of Afriwave’s exceptional service, groundbreaking innovations, and relentless dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
Commenting on the award, Francis Poku, who has more than 26 years of experience in the telecom industry, said the award was in line with the role he had played in Ghana’s telecom industry.
Dedication
Mr Poku dedicated his award to the management and staff of Afriwave for their dedication and hard work.
He revealed that Afriwave’s SMS platform was ready for use and called on all Value-Added Service (VAS) providers to take advantage of the platform.
