Valley View University honours Rev. Hagan

The Valley View University (VVU) has honoured a former Head of Public Communication, Reverend Joe Aaron Hagan, with a citation for his exceptional contributions to the institution and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the country.

A citation presented to Rev. Hagan recognised his four decades of dedication to excellence, integrity and service.

“For over four decades, you have exuded and embodied the very shared values of excellence, integrity and service both for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana and the Valley View University in particular,” the citation, presented to him by the Vice Chancellor, Professor William Kofi Koomson, said.

Pacesetter

In a brief remark, Prof. Koomson described Pastor Hagan as a "Grand Pacesetter" and "unsung hero" in communication and public relations, acknowledging his tireless efforts to build bridges and open doors for the university and the church.

The VC indicated that, during his tenure at the Valley View University from 2007 to 2017, Rev. Hagan made significant impacts in media, public relations and institutional visibility.

“You are a Grand Pacesetter and Standard Bearer Extraordinaire. You have been an unsung hero in communication and public relations and a change-maker who has built bridges and opened doors for many,” he said.

Exploits

Prof. Koomson added that Rev. Hagan facilitated a GH¢1billion donation from the Government of Ghana and strengthened partnerships with key institutions, including the Ghana Armed Forces and diplomatic missions.

“You facilitated the Government of Ghana's donation of ¢1billion to the university through the Public-Private Partnership initiative in 2008. You facilitated the National Award of the Order of the Volta to the President of the university in 2007.

“You exceptionally facilitated the historic visit of the President of the Repubic of Zambia to the University in 2023, you strengthened the Iinkage between the university and institutions such as the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, government Aaencies, diplomatic missions and non-governmental organisations and such relationships have proved beneficial to the university and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in many ways,” he said.

As a servant of God, Prof. Koomson added that the honourees' handiworks, tireless sacrifices, dedication and unassuming humility have paid off for the university and the church in the country and beyond.

“Your eloquence, excellent communication skills, accessibility, humour, in-depth knowledge in corporate communication and repository institutional memory have moulded you into a consummate leader among your peers - thus we celebrate your legacy and impactful service in celebration and appreciation of these achievements and many more,” he stated.
