Varsities nursing students clash in brainy quiz

The nursing students from five universities are set to slug it out for the honours and bragging rights in the final of the maiden inter- universities quiz competition on Saturday.

The five: The University of Ghana, the Methodist University, the University of Development Studies, the University of Wisconsin and the KAAF University, made it to the final after a keenly contested elimination round last week, staged at the Methodist University, Dansoman campus.

The Coordinator, George Amoako Dankwah, said the competition, aimed at bringing together various nursing students, is also intended to promote academic excellence and raise awareness of the critical role of nurses and midwives in healthcare.

He explained that it was also intended to encourage more students to pursue careers in these vital fields.

“The quiz is intended to bring all the universities together to collaborate and also, if you like, create a healthy academic competition.

“We also hope that through the competition, we will create more awareness of the critical role nurses play in the healthcare system, given that nursing is one of the oldest and critical aspects of healthcare,” Mr Dankwah explained.

He expressed the hope that the enthusiasm the participating universities have shown in this maiden edition will attract some tangible support for the quiz in subsequent years to sustain it.
