World’s first customised gold coin box presented to Asantehene, BoG Governor
The first two sets of the customised commemorative gold coin box were presented to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II himself, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Asiama.
The box, which comes with a 24-karat Otumfuo commemorative gold coin approved by the Bank of Ghana, has built-in screens, the first of its kind in the world.
It was launched at the Executive Dinner Ball.
The gold coin holds great significance as it celebrates Otumfuo as a ‘Pillar of Peace,’ honouring his relentless efforts in conflict resolution, national stability, and peacebuilding across Ghana and beyond.
The box features rechargeable touchscreens that display a documentary on Asantehene Otumfuo’s peace initiatives.
This double-screen legacy keepsake includes a large screen showcasing his peace initiatives, and a mini screen displaying an animation of the gold coin.
The gold coin box, with its embedded documentary, immortalises his peace initiatives.
The BoG Governor was presented with the box because the Bank of Ghana granted the approval for minting the coin specifically to celebrate Otumfuo as a Pillar of Peace.
