The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has held its 2013 annual thanksgiving service, with a call on Ghanaians to appreciate God’s goodness despite the current economic challenges.

According to Rev. Owusu Ansah, a membe of staff of the GRA who made the call, although the country is facing some development challenges, God has been extremely faithful to Ghanaians.

The service, which was held at the forecourt of the GRA’s head office, was attended by both Christians and Muslims, including the Commissioner-General, Mr George Blankson, staff members and their families.  Scripture readings and prayers were interspersed with hymns and songs of praise for the goodness of God to GRA in 2013.

Earlier, the institution joined their Muslim brothers at the mosque to worship and praise God for his protection and provision in the activities of the GRA.

Why Ghanaians should be thankful to God

Rev. Ansah said showing appreciation to God in all things was good because it provided opportunities to receive more blessings, adding that gratitude produced more emotional energy.

He asked Christians to not forget the benefit of God no matter the circumstance they found themselves in, stressing that thanksgiving to God allowed individuals to win supernatural battles and redeem them from their sins.

Rev. Ansah said despite God’s assurances of the benefits of thanksgiving, it was surprising to see that most people did not show appreciation to God because of the belief that the current positions they attained were through their own effort.

He, however, urged the GRA to go beyond the annual thanksgiving service and express gratitude to God by giving back to orphanages, the poor and the needy and the Church.

Mr Blankson called for dedication from the staff and expressed the hope that 2014 would be a good year for the authority.

He also thanked the management and staff of the GRA whose efforts and dedication had enhanced the operations of the institution.
