Graphic signs MoU with Mega-Choice Digital Network for news broadcast

The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) and Mega-Choice Digital Network, the parent company of Ghana's first private television network (Crystal TV) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly produce a a news programme for broadcast.

The agreement was signed between management of GCGL and management of  Mega-Choice Digital Network Tuesday on the sidelines of the Graphic Business/Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting at the La Beach Hotel.

In a comment, the Managing Director of the GCGL, Kenneth Ashigbey said the collaboration will enable Ghana's biggest selling newspaper company to live-up to its vision of being a dominant Multimedia Group in West Africa, telling the African story.

"This MoU will bring together the two parties to establish a TV station that will be able to tell the African story globally. This for us in Graphic is living up to our vision of being a dominant Multimedia Group in West Africa, telling the the African story," Mr Ashigbey said.

"We are happy to be able to partner with the Mega-Choice Digital Network that has the infrastructure to be able to provide satellite as well as terrestrial television capacity.

"This MoU will begin the steps that we need to take to ensure that we achieve our goals, so keep on watching this space because there is a global television brand that is about to be born".

For his part the MD of Mega-Choice Digital Network, Dr Chief Djirackor said Crsytal TV for years abstained from news production in anticipation of this historic partnership with GCGL.

Dr Djirackor explained that, "Crystal TV, the first private TV station has not been going into news production and that is for a strategic reason as a group. We prefer very authentic news that is why the nation of Ghana and beyond has not been seeing any news.

"Today, we are glad to announce that this is taking place because we are partnering the Graphic Group. The Graphic Group was chosen because as you all know they are the best when it comes to balanced and proper news in this part of the world that people can rely on.

"We are very happy today that we are entering into this partnership to offer you, our people the best when it comes to news."
