The items include two sets of electric and manual dilatation and curettage beds and their mattresses, oxygen concentrator, four water distillation plants, an operation lamp and two oxygen cylinders.
The rest are sets of thyroidectomy, three chest sets, three cholecystectomy, a microscope and patients hoists among other equipment.
The presentation was in response to a request made to the ministry by authorities of the hospital, which was facilitated by a group of natives of Keta as part of their maiden homecoming event.
Infrastructure
The Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia who made the presentation on behalf of the ministry, said the government was putting up a lot of infrastructure to meet the health needs of Ghanaians.
He said the Keta Hospital, which serves a large area, had one of the best maintenance cultures and also delivered quality services to its clients.
The minister, however, noted that the huge workload on the hospital had put it under intense pressure and, therefore, needed to be supported with some equipment.
Mr Segbefia promised that the ministry would provide the hospital with additional equipment soon.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Kwasi Asare Bediako, received the items and thanked the minister and their benefactors for the support.
Homecoming
The homecoming event was organised by the members as part of efforts to mobilise resources to facilitate the accelerated development of the area.
Activities that marked the day’s event included a traditional food bazaar and jamboree to raise funds for their development programmes.
Funds
The Keta natives intend to raise US$250,000 to support the accident and emergency wards of the hospital.
The chairman of the home-coming group, Mr Sui Fiawu, said the amount to be realised from this year’s event would be used to refurbish the wards and provide additional equipment such as patient monitors, digital defibrillators, portal ultra-sound baby machines and incubators.
The rest include cardio tocographs, electro cardiographs, patients foldable screens, digital foetal stethoscope, chemistry analyzers, nebulizers and haematology analysers.
He appealed to other citizens of Keta to also contribute their widow’s mite to support the hospital.
