Ga Mantse endorses Hola Accra Music Festival

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII, has given his blessing to the Hola Accra Music Festival scheduled for April 24, 2026 at the Ussher Fort (Old Kingsway Building), Jamestown.

The festival is meant to strengthen musical and cultural ties between Ghana and Spain and the Ga Mantse gave the thumbs up for it when the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Kaneshie in Accra.

Three Ghanaian bands: the all-female Lipstick Queens, guitarist Akablay’s Abiza Band and bassist Dan Grahl’s Hyskuul Band will perform at the outdoor event alongside Spanish band, Mucho Mungo.

Welcoming the Spanish Ambassador, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII said he was glad a project that showcases the rich musical heritage of both Ghana and Spain is slated for Accra. He stated that cultural cooperation is a major factor in bringing countries together, adding that he would offer full support to make the festival a success.

The Lipstick Queens will feature at the festival

The Hola Accra Music Festival is being organized by the Spanish Agency for Cooperation (AECID) in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Ghana, Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Showbiz Africa, Creative Arts Agency and Globe Production, with sponsorship from Coca Cola, La Liga EA Sports, SuperSport and GB Foods Ghana.

The festival is expected to blend the vibrant feel of Ghanaian festivals with the lively energy of Spanish fiestas that often embrace music, dancing, food and community gathering.

The Jamestown area in Accra is noted for hosting a variety of lively civic activities and the Hola Accra Music Festival is likely to draw in a sizable crowd.

This first edition of the festival on April 24, 2026 is billed for 6.00pm till 11.00pm. The bash is expected to be an annual event to attract music lovers and promote tourism in Ghana.
