President Mahama arrives in London for royal audience with King Charles III

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at strengthening Ghana-United Kingdom economic relations, attracting investment, and engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora.

The President was welcomed at the airport by Lord Katz MBE from the Royal Household, His Excellency Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The visit features a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, underscoring the long-standing bilateral relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the visit will position Ghana as a premier investment destination while actively engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora.

As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will attend a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London on Sunday evening. On Monday morning, he will open the Ghana-United Kingdom Investment Summit at Raffles. The investment summit, central to the visit, is designed to attract foreign direct investment and foster partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors.

The President will also demonstrate Ghana's growing presence in global financial markets as a guest at the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the bell to mark the official start of trading. He will deliver an address at Chatham House and a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall in London.

The visit underscores Ghana's commitment to deepening international partnerships, promoting investment opportunities, and advancing economic transformation for sustainable growth.

President Mahama will end his visit to London on June 3, 2026.
