According to him, his utterances at a press conference on Tuesday was not intended to incite the youth to take the law into their own hands.

I have not incited anybody; rather they (police) should see to it that the court order for the Fulani men to take their cattle out of Agogo is implemented, he said on Asempa FM on Friday.

The police, led by Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye on Thursday served notice they would arrest the MP for comments they said were inciting the youth to violence, after the MP and others had led a press conference to serve notice the constituents would defend themselves and property if the police would not protect them from the activities of Fulani herdsmen.

But Mr Agyemang has since denied being arrested by the Police or being served any such notice, saying the police know what is lawful and so they should act as such, explaining that their comments at the press conference did not in any way incite anybody.

The press conference had urged inhabitants of the area to cut all links with the Fulani settlers, including ceasing trading and refusing them on commercial vehicles. The organisers had also warned that anyone who contravened the directives would face the wrath of the people. They were also to ignore any invitations from the traditional authorities to participate in the 40th anniversary celebration of the paramount chief, Nana Akuoko Sarpong, as well as threatening to prevent the celebration itself from going ahead.

Kwadwo Baah confirmed Friday that he had received a call from the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, telling him he was going to arrest him for inciting violence among the youth of Agogo.

He said he was awaiting an official communication from the Speaker of Parliament to that effect.

He was however disappointment in earlier media reports that he had been arrested.
