IGP places GH¢20,000 bounty on MP Ekow Kwansah's killers
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has placed a GH₵20,000 bounty on the killers of the Mfantseman Member of Parliament (MP), Ekow Kwansah Hayford.
The IGP has also dispatched a team of investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to support the Central Region’s Crime Scene Team to investigate the incidence, a statement from the Police Public Affairs said.
Mr Hayford was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers on Friday dawn while returning from a campaign tour on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road in the Central Region.

According to an eyewitness, the suspected armed robbers stopped the MP's vehicle with others which had joined him on the campaign tour but the MP's driver attempted to drive through.
The driver was reportedly shot first which resulted in him losing control over the vehicle.
The eyewitness said the MP introduced himself after the suspected armed robbers asked of him and was subsequently shot twice.
The deceased MP had filed his nomination for re-election Thursday [October 8, 2020] and met with the Central Regional executives of the NPP before he set off on the campaign trip.
Condolences
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have expressed their condolences to the family of the late MP.
The President in a Facebook post also tasked the Police to expediate investigations into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
