IGP tasks homicide unit to investigate 'murder' of alleged internet fraudster
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has charged the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to speed up investigations into the death of a 25-year-old man who is suspected to have been murdered at K-Bee Down at Oyarifa in Accra.
The deceased has been identified by the Police as Osaridan Essay a Nigerian and a resident of Oyarifa.
The Police confirmed the commencement of investigations into the death of Essay in a tweet Tuesday;

According to eyewitnesses, he was allegedly shot in the head at close-range by a police officer during a swoop on the hideout of alleged internet fraudsters.
The assemblyman of the area, Daniel Kwaku Owusu alleged that the police officers arrived at the scene in two vehicles for the raid and at the time they left, they (the residents) were not aware of any fatalities.
He said after the officer chased Essay for a while, he shot him at close range and left the scene without reporting to his colleagues that he had killed someone.
"They left with the people the people they had arrested and left the rest of them there," Mr Owusu said in an interview with Joy FM.
