Japan showcases development activities in Ghana
A three-day seminar has been held in Accra to showcase some of the development activities being undertaken by the Japanese government in Ghana.

The seminar, which was also attended by journalists from Kenya, DR Congo and Zambia, was organised by the Embassy of Japan.
It also threw highlights on the upcoming Tokyo Conference on African Development (TICAD) which would be held in Kenya this year.
TICAD is a conference held regularly with the objective "to promote high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners." Japan is a co-host of these conferences.
Japanese government support
After a press tour of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) at the University of Ghana, the First Secretary to the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Masa Iida, told the Daily Graphic the Japanese government was committed and determined to support the growth of Ghana.
He said the Japan government through the Japanese Embassy of Ghana and the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) had, and would continue to provide strategic and operational activities across the country.
According to Mr Iida, more support would be given to Ghana by the japanese government to ensure that the country attain its development goals.
He mentioned the introduction of the “Kaizen” management concept as one of the business projects introduced by the Japanese government through JICA, in Ghana, which had improved many small and medium enterprises.

Kaizen is a Japanese word which means continuous improvement. It is used to describe a company’s culture where each individual in an institution from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to the front desk staff regularly evaluate their work to improve on their performance.
To implement the concept successfully, it is compulsory that all employees receive basic training and guidelines on what to do to enhance quality and productivity at the workplace.
It was introduced in 2013 as a pilot scheme in the Ashanti Region, where 36 small businesses benefited from the project.
Mr Iida said the seminar was also geared towards promoting Kaizen.
