Some traders at the Kejetia market in Kumasi have embarked on a street protest against a planned demolition of their shops at the central business district of the Ashanti Regional capital.

They have been given a two-month grace period by the Kumsai Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to vacate the market or risk getting their merchandise and properties destroyed.

The angry traders argued that the KMA must give them enough time to relocate before the demolition exercise starts.

The KMA intends redeveloping the bus terminal, thus the need for the relocation of the traders.

All shops at the bus terminal are currently locked and vehicles are not moving.
