Key offices at Accra Tourist Information Centre destroyed in Sunday's fire - Investigations underway

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has confirmed that a fire outbreak on Sunday, August 4, 2025, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC) has destroyed several key offices within the facility. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

The affected offices include the International Affairs Department of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the GTA Call Centre, the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), the National Film Authority (NFA), and other private businesses in the travel, tour, and hospitality sectors.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Delassie Mabel Awuku, preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service and a review of CCTV footage suggest that the fire started from one corner of the structure and quickly spread to adjacent offices.

"Investigations into the exact cause of the outbreak are currently ongoing, and the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority and relevant agencies, is awaiting the Final Incident Report to guide future actions," the statement said.

Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie has assured the public and affected institutions of the government's full commitment to restoring and rehabilitating the ATIC facility. She indicated that immediate steps would be taken to return the centre to full operations once the final report is received.
