The tree-planting exercise, which has the theme: “Me and My Tree Competition”, is part of the assembly’s commitment to plant trees across the metropolis as the benefits are enormous.

This was carried in a press release from the KMA, which has declared Saturday a special tree-planting day in the metropolis.

It is, therefore, calling on financial institutions, traditional authorities, religious bodies, fun clubs, the media and market women, among others, to join hands with the assembly in the tree-planting exercise.

In line with the exercise, major roads earmarked for the tree planting include Asafo-Brebre; Anloga Junction-Airport Roundabout; Suame Roundabout — Anloga Junction-Asokwa Interchange;  Asafo Ahmadiya Roundabout-Coca Cola; and the Bekwai Roundabout-Opoku Ware- Santasi-Anyinam.

The exercise would be carried out between 7: 00 a.m. and 12:00noon.

The statement said the seedlings would be made available to the various sub-metro councils for collection and planting.

It, therefore, called on drivers who would be driving along the various routes to drive with care to avoid incidents.

The KMA is calling on the public to participate in the exercise to enhance the quest to restore Kumasi to its past glory as the Garden City of West Africa.
