Knight of Malta supports rehab centre at Abor
The Knight of Malta, Ambassador Lorenzo Dore, has presented assorted items worth GH¢10,000 to the St Theresa Rehabilitation Centre at Abor in the Keta District in the Volta Region.
The items included water, fruit juice, milk, cake, bread, tomato juice, flour and pastries.
Ambassador Dore, who was donating to the centre for the second time, promised his continued assistance to the centre and the less-privileged in society.
Vocational school
He announced plans to construct a vocational school this year to train the youth in Italian and English, carpentry, electricals, dressmaking and plumbing.
Rev. Father Isaac Nwagboso, the Director of the centre, said it presently had about 120 students, including physically and mentally challenged persons.
He said most of the students, aged between 13 and 25, had been neglected by their families.
He said the students were being offered three-year vocational training in ICT, leather making, general printing, electricals, tailoring and dressmaking.
He said the centre spent about GH¢14,000 every month to pay the salaries of its 56 teaching and non-teaching staff, utility bills and maintenance of facilities.
He, therefore, appealed to benevolent organisations to come to its aid to support the training of those less-privileged people.
