The delegation invited the management and staff of the GCGL to the week-long funeral rites scheduled to take place at Abene, the traditional capital of the Kwahus, from Sunday, December 7 to Sunday, December 14, 2014.

Led by Nana Somuah Mireku Nyampong III, Kwahu Apagyahene/Asakrakahene, the delegation called for the support, assistance and advice of the GCGL for the memorial service.

Reason for the invitation

“We need to project the image and rich culture of Kwahu and its indigenes, and Graphic with such a clout as far as the media is concerned, cannot be left out of this,” Nana Nyampong III, who is also the spokesperson of the chiefs, said during the visit.

Aside the Easter celebrations during which a lot of activities go on to project the image and rich culture of Kwahu, Nana Nyampong III stated that Kwahu had many other things to offer Ghanaians, Africa and the entire world, adding that the funeral would offer such a platform through the efforts and support of the GCGL.

The Kwahutwafohene, Nana Ameyaw Gyensiama, also added that “the work is not going to be easy, so we will need your maximum support, co-operation and advice”.

GCGL management assurance and support

The Director of Newspapers of the GCGL, Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, assured the delegation of the company’s support in the area of the projection of the rich culture of Okwahuman.

He also gave an assurance that the company would do special stories and features to project Okwahuman.

For his part, the Managing Director (MD) of the GCGL, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, also assured the delegation that the company would do special supplements at reduced discounts about the good works of the late chief to be sold to visitors during the funeral.

He further pledged the company’s support to make the funeral a memorable one, saying that the GCGL would prepare products in the form of brochures aimed at projecting the good works of Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II.

“We will do our best as a company to make the occasion a successful one,” he assured, adding that special pullouts would be placed in the Daily Graphic weeks before the funeral and a day to the occasion.

Mr Ashigbey also advised them to appeal to some prominent persons and companies owned by Kwahu natives in the country for additional support so that such companies could be featured in some of the brochures that would be prepared by Graphic Packaging (G-Pack), a subsidiary of the GCGL.

The delegation also paid a visit to the editorial section of the company. Other members of the delegation were Akuako Boateng, Okyeame of Kwahu Abene/Kyidomhene of Abetifi; Nana Okyeame Darko, Kwaku Abetifi; and Nana Danso, an Elder of Kwahu Asakraka.
