Kwaw Kesse’s manager gunned down

Emmanuel Fennec Okyere, the manager of popular hip life musician, Kwaw Kese, was found dead in a pool of blood in his bedroom Thursday.

The body of the 31-year-old, popularly known as Fennec, was found naked lying prostrate in his room, which appeared to have been ransacked.

The caretaker of Fennec’s Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road reportedly found the door to the deceased’s room broken into in the early hours of yesterday.

Robbery or murder

The Kpeshie Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Gyan Kyereko, told the Daily Graphic that a police team, made up of the Homicide and the Crime Scene squads, was deployed to the scene on being alerted  about 7 a.m.

He said the police suspected robbery or murder, saying, “It could be one of the two things.”

Empty bullet shell

He said an empty bullet shell was found in the room, while a hammer suspected to have been used to break into the room had also been retrieved, but he declined to comment on the type of weapon suspected to have been used for the shooting. 

“The forensic team has taken a number of samples and we have commenced our investigations,” the commander, who described the incident as unfortunate, said. 

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital pending an autopsy.

Life threat 

Fennec had recently reported in the media that he had been receiving threats on his life, while there have also been reports of robbery attempts at his residence in the last two months. 

Weeping sympathisers 

The news of Fennec’s death, which was broken on the electronic and social media, attracted a number of people to his residence.

They included players in the entertainment industry and some residents of the area.

While some wept uncontrollably, others tried to console those wailing, with many more seen in groups discussing the sad incident.

Who was Fennec?

Fennec was a trained journalist and he produced and wrote scripts for the TV series “Dada Boat” for Mikki Osei Berko’s Media Gold Production. 

He produced “Fusion Top Ten” an entertainment programme on TV3 which was presented by Abeiku Santana. 

He was also a one-time producer of Happy FM’s drive time, Kessben FM’s morning show and the Event Coordinator for Dede’s American Dream reality show. 

Fennec once managed the musicians  Chemphe, Okra and actor, Mikky Osei Berko, aka Master Richard  and radio presenter, Abeiku Santana.

Until his death, Fennec was the Logistics Manager for C.A Nzema Oil and Gas Company and the Manager for the Dome at the Accra International Conference Centre.
