Kyebi comes alive in memory of Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I
Kyebi, a rather quiet community located on the eastern slopes of the Atewa Range of the Eastern Region has come alive as people from all walks of life have thronged the town to celebrate the life of Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I.
It is an Akyem-Asante affair with a display of rich culture; kente mixed with tradition, custom, dance, pomp and pageantry is the order of the day as the capital of the Akyem Abuakwa state acknowledge the contribution of Sir Ofori Atta I, who was Okyenhene from 1912 to 1943.
The forecourt of the Ofori Panin’s Palace, where the event is being held, has been turned into an arena of palanquins and skins, a clear testament of the diverse number of chiefs who have made it to the event.
