Mahama urges clergy to speak up on governance issues

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the clergy to take an active role in holding leaders accountable, stressing that religious leaders must not shy away from speaking truth to power.

Speaking at a fellowship and thanksgiving service with the clergy in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, March 2 2025, Mr Mahama encouraged pastors and church leaders to use their platforms to address governance challenges affecting the country.

“Do not be afraid to speak up when things go wrong,” he said. “the one watching can tell if the path is not straight. If you see anything bending, don’t be afraid to tell us.”

Mr Mahama acknowledged the church’s influence in shaping Ghana’s moral and social fabric but urged faith leaders to also advocate for good governance and national development.
