MEGHISS launches 35th anniversary
The Methodist Girls' Senior High School in the Eastern region has launched its 35th anniversary with a foundation day lecture held at Mamfe Akuapem.
The anniversary which is on the theme " holistic education in retrospect and the way forward" will be climaxed with a speech and prize-giving day on November 1, 2019.
It is expected to be graced by the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo and a Patron of the school, Former President J. J. Rawlings and the hierarchy of the Methodist Church Ghana.

In the first lecture to mark the occasion, a retired bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana and the first board chairman of the board of governors for the school, Right Reverend Dr MacLean Kumi, said the school which started in a local community centre with numerous challenges has braved the storm to become a household name in Ghana.
"MEGHISS has become a name to be reckoned with in Ghana and worldwide. You are fulfilling the dreams of the church which has moved you from a grade "D" category to "A" he added.
He paid tribute to the founders and all stakeholders who have made the school to become an epitome of excellence in the country.
Rt. Rev Kumi who spoke on the theme "Wesleyan point of view of education", said the provision chaplain in Methodist schools was to mould the character of students to achieve academic excellence and also excel in life.
"Education is the pre- requisite of academic excellence therefore as students of MEGHISS you should be women of integrity, discipline and industry when you come out.
The whole of Ghana you beat them just like the world. Keep up the spirit and shine to make us happy "he said

He commended the Parents - Teacher Association of the school for their effort which has made the school a household name in Ghana.
The Chief of Mamfe, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, in another presentation made on his behalf said, the school has now the pride of the area with people who hitherto frowned upon admissions now want their wards to be admitted.
He thanked the management of the school for the discipline imbibed in the students and hoped that "you will continue to do so after your education ".
For his part the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the .Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Asare Kusi urged the students of the school to be role models for others to emulate.

The headmistress of the school Madam Sylvia Isabella Laryeam thanked all those who have helped The school to come this far.
The PTA chairman of the school Mr Felix Anim Darko, said m the association would continue to support the school to build a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning. He gave the assurance that come December this year all lavatories in the school would be rehabilitated for the school
An old student of the school, Miss Grace Doku m appealed to her colleague to support their alma mater to be the best in the country.
